Katie joined the Student Life team in 2014 as administrative assistant, and is currently serving as a coordinator. As administrative assistant, she had the opportunity to serve all of Hope's students who are involved on campus.

Katie looks forward to each changing season in the life of the college, as some months are focused on Hope traditions like Nykerk and the Pull, while others give more attention to Orientation, club sports or student government. With over 80student-led groups, there are always new events and adventures to support.

Prior to her time at Hope, Katie served as a middle school humanities teacher and library media specialist in Baltimore, Maryland.

Outside the College

A perfect day for Katie would be spent with her husband Nick ’06 and their two boys, Lincoln and Redford. Depending on the season, the day would be filled with a bike ride to the park, hours at the beach, too many good books and a dinner party to host in the evening. The DeKosters love Sunday mornings at Central Wesleyan church, running in races around Michigan and around the block, and anything involving lightsabers.
