• In consultation with the music education advisors, Instrumental Music Education majors will participate in an instrumental ensemble as a conducting practicum for at least one semester after successful completion of Advanced Conducting.
• In consultation with the music education advisors and after the successful completion of applicable methods, Instrumental Music Education majors will participate in an instrumental ensemble on a secondary instrument for at least one semester.
• Music Education majors are required to perform a recital either in the junior or senior year with a minimum of 30 minutes of music. Students should enroll inMUS 392orMUS 492(0 credit) concurrently with Applied Lessons for credit in the semester in which they intend to present a recital. Students should consult with their applied instructor and area head for their specific recital requirements.

Exceptions may be made on an individual basis and must be approved in advance by the head of the music education in consultation with the Department Chair and studio teacher. A student may not perform his/her recital during student teaching - no exceptions.
