Chad Carlson joined the Hope College men's basketball coaching staff prior to the 2019-20 season. A 2017 graduate of Hope, he also works in the college's Events and Conferences Office as an event manager.

Carlson was a four-year guard for the Flying Dutchmen, captaining the squad during this senior year. He owns several Hope records for his shooting prowess from behind the arc: most three-pointers made in a game (10), most three-pointers made in a season (91), most three-point attempts in a season (224), and most three-pointers made in a career (189).
